Spider-Man vs annoying YouTubers

I was wrong when I said this summer would be dominated by Super Girl and Spider-Man. Going by past summer box office totals, the MCU’s dominance and Jame’s Gunn successful Superman blockbuster I made an educated guess. We now know that Supergirl preformed so poorly that it leaves Gunn’s rebooted DCU in doubt. What went wrong? That can be debated all day long. What I did wrong, when making my prediction, was underestimating Toy Story 5.

However I was right about Spider-Man. Brand New Day broke box office records, earning $360 domestically in its opening weekend. A record previously held by Avengers: Endgame. Combined with international figures, Spider-Man Brand New Day earned $932 million in its first three days.

Being a giant comic-book nerd I use to watch several YouTube channels break down movies, television shows and trailers shot-for-shot, explain every Easter Egg in length and theorize about the plot. That changed when Wandavision first aired on Disney+ in 2020. Each week their theories got bigger and bigger and each week they were proven wrong. What really ticked me off was these YouTube channels would not admit that they were wrong, they doubled down and continued to make more predictions and forge even wilder theories. What they thought was harmless theory crafting was actually the catalyst for negative reviews. Fans expected theses theories to be true and were disappointed when they were not. I purged my YouTube subscriptions list of all but two of those channels.

However, now both of those remaining channels have entered that zone. Spider-Man Brand New Day wasn’t their first attempt at theorizing but it was their most aggressive...and they were wrong. SPOILER ALERT!

They theorized that other heroes had been digitally removed from the moment (above) when Spider-Man was fighting The Hand. That was wrong. Spider-Man was facing the deadly ninja clan all by him self. This may not be their fault as Marvel is guilty of removing things from promotional materials to avoid spoilers. They theorized that Tombstone was the real villain and was kept out of the trailer intentionally to shroud the crime boss in mystery. Tombstone appeared for seconds in a montage of Spider-Man fighting his rogues gallery. They were wrong about legendary actor, Keith David. He did not portray the Jackal, he merely provided the narration for a documentary Peter Parker was watching. They were wrong when they suggested Spider-Man was attempting to break Daredevil out of prison. The list goes on.

Now they are theorizing about the Avengers: Doomsday trailer. This moment in particular. Once again claiming that some actors have been digitally removed from this scene. Will they be right this time?
